Stewardship: A Way of Life - A manual for Individuals
and Parishes

Our diocesan stewardship manual, Stewardship: A Way of LIfe--A Manual for Individuals and Parishes, describes a suggested process for introducing stewardship as a way of life into your parish. Your particular parish life and needs will call for you to personalize the various elements of this process, but we provide you with a solid starting point.

Stewardship Manual

The introductory phase of the stewardship process includes letters with descriptive brochures, mailed to parishioners over a three week process.

  • Week one offers a sample question and answer brochure which introduces your parishioners to the concept of stewardship and how it can fit into their every day life:
  • Week two references a sample brochure emphasizing the sharing aspect of stewardship:
  • Week three includes a sample commitment brochure encouraging each parishioner to commit part of their time, talent, and treasure:

The three brochures above are effective but basic designs. As you review the stewardship process in light of your parish community, we encourage you to tailor them to reflect your particular parish life. The more these brochures reflect your parish, the more your parishioners will be drawn into participating and gifting of their time, talent and treasure. To help you with ideas on how to personalize these basic principles, we have included a number of useful samples in the appendix:

1. Here are various ways to present the concepts of stewardship to your parishioners:

2. These models combine the concepts of sharing and encourage 'taking a step' in treasure commitments:

3. The following material was developed by St. Patrick Parish in Grand Haven and incorporates the gifting of time, talent and treasure nicely:

4. Finally, the Archdiocese of St. Louis developed a series of explanatory brochures with included reflective questions that present stewardship in a 5 step process. Of course, you can always simplify the concepts presented into fewer brochures and complement them with letters from your pastor:
