Mission
Native American Ministry
of the Diocese of Grand Rapids was established:
- to
support the PRESENCE of Native American Catholics in the
Diocesan-wide Church;
- to
promote the IDENTITY of Native American Catholics; and
- to
encourage the VOICE of the Native American community.
Receiving inspiration and guidance from the
National Tekakwitha Conference, the Native American Ministry
fosters the establishment of Kateri Circles as a means of promoting
evangelization and recognition of nearly 400 years of Catholic
Christianity among the Odawa, Ojibwa and Potawatomi Tribes in
Michigan.
Under the special protection of BLESSED KATERI
TEKAKWITHA, Kateri Circles reach out to others in prayer and
service.
