Highlights from the Joy of the Gospel Convocation

Logo: Convocation of Catholic Leaders event, Orlando, Fla.
The success of the Convocation of Catholic Leaders is not what happened in July 2017, but what happens next – in the days, weeks, months, and years beyond this historic gathering to advance a next chapter of evangelization and the formation of missionary disciples across the United States.
The goal of the Convocation was for Catholic leaders to be inspired by the joy of the Gospel, fueled by Pope Francis' call in Evangelii Gaudium, and to be sent out in their dioceses, parishes, apostolates, movements, and organizations to form missionary disciples.
The thirteen member delegation from our diocese, led by Bishop David Walkowiak, gathered with delegations from other dioceses, Catholic Apostolates, and lay movements across the U.S. in Orlando, Fla. Around 3,000 people were expected to participate in this event.
The convocation was guided by the missionary vision of Evangelli Gaudium and centered on discussion about ways to bring the joy of the Gospel out into the world today, especially to those on the peripheries. This was the first convocation to be held in more than one hundred years.

The plenary sessions, Masses, keynote speakers, and evening prayer were recorded. View video from the convocation on the USCCB website. Catch up with convocation news and updates on social media: on the USCCB Facebook and Twitter, #CatholicConvo.
Please pray for Catholic leaders across our country as they return to their dioceses to carry out the mission and message of the joy of the Gospel.
