Fortnight for Freedom is June 21-July 4

Graphic: Forttnight for Freedom 2017 feat. St. Thomas More"Freedom for Mission" is the theme for the 2017 Fortnight for Freedom

"To be Catholic and American should mean not having to choose one over the other. Our allegiances are distinct, but they need not be contradictory, and should instead be complementary. That is the teaching of our Catholic faith, which obliges us to work together with fellow citizens for the common good of all who live in this land. That is the vision of our founding and our Constitution, which guarantees citizens of all religious faiths the right to contribute to our common life together. "

—from Our First, Most Cherished Liberty: A Statement on Religious Liberty, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty, April 12, 2012

Take Action

The Fortnight for Freedom takes place from June 21 to July 4, and is a time during which we celebrate a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. The theme of this year's Fortnight focuses on our call to follow Christ as missionary disciples by seeking the truth, serving others, and living our faith in all that we do.

Throughout each Fortnight, a 14-day period of prayer, learning and action in support of religious freedom, we are encouraged to do some or all of the following:

Events

Support national events like the USCCB's opening and closing Masses
