Bishop Walkowiak's statement on Hobby Lobby SCOTUS ruling

On Monday, June 30, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the case of Burwell, Secretary of Health & Human Services vs. Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. Following is Bishop David Walkowiak's statement regarding the ruling:
“The U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding closely held corporations and their religious liberty is an important one. These companies are led by families who place their faith, values and ethics at the heart of their lives, including their work. Today’s opinion acknowledged that the courts should not be in the business of deciding whether a religious belief is reasonable or important. At its general level, it recognizes the importance of religious liberty in this country.
By not compelling corporations, under the Affordable Care Act, to pay for employee health coverage that includes contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs and services, closely held companies are able to conduct business in a way that does not contradict those beliefs. I hope that this ruling will assist in enabling all employers to have the right to make business decisions that do not violate their personal, deeply-held religious beliefs.”
