Mission, Guadalupe: River of Love

The Blessed Mother’s appearance in 1531 as Our Lady of Guadalupe to Juan Diego in Mexico marked the beginning of one of the largest conversions to Catholicism in the history of the Church. To this day, she remains a powerful symbol of faith and motherhood, one with which many Catholics identify. Our Lady’s message of love and compassion holds something for all of us, the language of infinite love; a universal calling which unites all Catholics through Our Lady as the patroness of the Americas.

Her voice echoes down through the centuries with the message:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

We invite you to grow in your Catholic faith through the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe during “Guadalupe: River of Love,” a special mission week, Dec. 8- 12, in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. The mission features a week of presentations by featured speakers from Mexico City including Roberto O’Farrill Corona, an expert in Mariology; Monsignor Diego Monroy Ponce, rector emeritus of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe; and Miriam Limón, an expert in Our Lady of Guadalupe iconography. Roberto will visit several different parishes in our diocese giving presentations about Our Lady.

Live translation into English of three of his talks will be provided:
